If you're up for a riverside hike, you can walk to the Pioneer Village and Welcome Center at the entrance to the Great Smoky Mountains. The Oconaluftee River is just around the corner - you can hear it at night when you take the K9 out for a 'break'. The Great Smokies Inn is at Saunooke Village complete with eateries, shops and lovely mountain views. ![]() Room included fridge, microwave, large flat screen tv, iron, ironing board, hair dryer, small courtesy shampoo and soaps. A/C worked great, kept the room at a very comfortable cool temp all night. Loved that I could park the car right at the room and not have to walk around the block or up flights of stairs to load/unload. The beds are comfortable and the pillows are wonderful and that's coming from someone with severe back and neck issues. This was no issue for me since I took some light bedding from home. This may be due to covid or having a dog friendly room, but the beds have only sheets and some type of light cotton blanket-no bedspread or comforter. There's plenty of grassy areas to walk your K9 friend and ample clean up stations & trash cans to help make it easy to pick up after your dog - so be considerate of others please. The lady at check in gave me a small courtesy gift which I later found to be a dog treat and a doggy pickup bag in a cute little food bowl. ![]() ![]() My pet was welcome here, yes there is a pet fee but reasonable compared to leaving your furkid behind at home in a kennel.
